Sydney Lienemann, Chief of Staff at Carbogenics USA, and Ward Hendon of Dangerous Ventures, one of Carbogenics USA’s investors, made the journey from New Mexico to spend time with the team in Scotland and experience the work happening here across our technology, trials and commercial operations.
The visit provided a valuable opportunity to bring together the UK and US sides of the Carbogenics story, share knowledge and experience, and demonstrate how our technology is being applied in real-world environments.
Seeing Carbogenics in action
A key part of the visit was the opportunity to visit Strathendrick Biogas, where we were able to showcase CreChar at a real operating anaerobic digestion facility.
With thanks to Robert Kennedy and the Strathendrick Biogas team for hosting us, Sydney and Ward were able to see first-hand how CreChar is being used within a commercial AD environment and gain a practical understanding of the technology beyond the laboratory or production facility.
Seeing the product in action at a client site is an important part of understanding the value that CreChar can bring to anaerobic digestion. It also provided an opportunity to discuss the practical realities of using biochar within an operational digester, from dosing and integration through to the wider benefits for plant performance.
For our US colleagues, the visit was particularly valuable as Carbogenics continues to develop its presence in the United States. The knowledge and experience gained from our established UK operations can help inform the development of our US activities as we work towards bringing our technology to new markets.
Connecting our UK and US teams
The visit was also an opportunity to spend valuable time together as a wider Carbogenics team.
While Carbogenics’ roots are firmly in Scotland, the company is increasingly operating internationally, with Carbogenics USA developing its first US production facility in Raton, New Mexico.
Bringing colleagues from both sides of the Atlantic together creates an opportunity to share what we have learned, understand the different opportunities in each market, and ensure that knowledge developed through years of work in the UK can help support our international growth.
For Sydney and Ward, the visit provided an opportunity to see the people, facilities and projects behind Carbogenics’ technology. For the UK team, it was equally valuable to hear more about the opportunities developing in the US and the work underway to establish Carbogenics USA.
Celebrating 10 years of Carbogenics
The timing of the visit made it even more special, as Sydney and Ward also joined us for our 10th anniversary celebration.
Ten years is a significant milestone for any company, and particularly for a company working to develop new approaches to carbon sequestration and the conversion of waste biomass into valuable carbon products.
Our anniversary celebration brought together the people who have helped shape Carbogenics over the past decade, providing an opportunity to reflect on how far the company has come while looking ahead to the opportunities still to come.
Having members of our US team and investment partners join us from New Mexico made the celebration a fitting reflection of where Carbogenics is today: a company with Scottish roots and an increasingly international outlook.
Taking UK experience to the US
One of the most valuable aspects of visits like this is the opportunity to share practical knowledge.
Carbogenics has spent years developing and testing its technology in real-world environments, working closely with partners and customers to understand how biochar can be integrated into anaerobic digestion and other applications.
That experience is now helping to inform our international ambitions.
As Carbogenics USA continues its development in New Mexico, the knowledge gained from the UK team, our customers and our commercial trials will be an important foundation for the next stage of growth.
From seeing CreChar being used at Strathendrick Biogas to meeting the wider team and celebrating ten years of Carbogenics, Sydney and Ward’s visit provided a valuable opportunity to connect the different parts of our growing business.
We are grateful to everyone who helped make the visit possible, particularly Robert Kennedy and the team at Strathendrick Biogas for welcoming us to their site.
And, of course, a huge thank you to Sydney and Ward for making the long journey from New Mexico to Scotland. We hope they returned home with plenty of new knowledge, ideas and memories to take back to the US.
After ten years of Carbogenics, it is exciting to see how far the journey has taken us and, even more importantly, where it might take us next.
